Copy Editor Edit copy for spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, and style. Work on two-person desk, editing every article from first read to contract proof (including promotional materials for GH books, such as 7 Years Younger, a New York Times best seller). Input changes in InCopy and InDesign, working closely with the Research Institute and editorial, art, and photo departments on monthly deadlines. Run desk in copy chief’s absence (even during busy closes). Proofread iPad copy of every issue. Emphasis on The Chicago Manual of Style and Words into Type. Subject matter includes health, recipes and cooking, beauty, fashion, interior decorating, personal finance, celebrity profiles, short fiction, and essays. Writer, Illustrator, and Public Speaker Wrote 3,000-word recaps of the TV show Mad Men in weekly online column. Published illustration of Elizabeth Gilbert in the September 2015 issue. Modeled in Good Housekeeping and on the TODAY show. Initiated, reported and wrote articles in the December 2015, April 2016 and April 2017 issues and in March 2018 on the website. After my April 2017 article (an excerpt from my blog, myfatherslist.com), was interviewed on CBS News, Inside Edition, Fox 5 NY (live with Ernie Anastos), Chasing News, and various radio programs and podcasts.
